This course presented in this manual is an introduction to the basics of journalism, in practice and theory. It has two components: lessons and newspaper production. It's designed to run over the course of two school semesters, with a base semester of 15 weeks. It allows for a lag in production in the first few months, since you’ll have a lot to teach before producing your first paper. As it's common to miss lessons in Ukraine (due to quarantine, snow, cold, dance rehearsals, etc.), the lessons, like a good news story, can be cut from the bottom; the last are the least essential to producing a school newspaper.
There are four accompanying lesson plan presentations (all available on PCLive):
- Lesson One: Why Journalism Matters
- Lesson Two: What Is News?
- Lesson Three: Basic Reporting
- Lesson Four: Basic Writing
